MARITIME ATTRACTIONS IN QINGDAO

We recently took a closer look at Qingdao Port in China, but the city itself is steeped in history and has some awesome maritime attractions to add to your list of things to see and do when visiting.

Enjoy a Qingdao Port Day Tour

After being picked up from Qingdao Port in the morning, on this tour you will get to explore some of the famous landmarks and tourist spots around the port. You’ll start with Zhan Bridge, followed by Xiaoqingdao Island which is a lovely, quaint peninsular. After lunch you will head to May Fourth Square, a large public square in the business district of the city. Last but not least, you will pay a visit to Tsingtao Brewery, which is China’s largest brewery and was founded in 1903 by German settlers. This brewery now claims 15% of market share.

Take a Walk on Zhanqiao Bridge

The symbol of Qingdao, this bridge was built in 1891 and is now a 440 meter long strip stretching into the sea. It was also the first wharf at Qingdao. There is an octagonal pagoda of distinctive Chinese style, “Huilan Pagoda” at the end of the pier, and the pier itself is viewed by many as the official symbol of Qingdao as it was made famous by being placed on the label of the bottles and the front of cans of Tsingdao Brewery. This scenic pier park is a wonderful place for you to rest or enjoy the views of Little Qingdao and its white tower.

Qingdao Naval Museum was built in 1988, and today it is the only military museum that features the complete development of the Chinese naval establishment. This is by far one of our favourite maritime attractions in Qingdao! The museum features an amazing collection of documents, photographs and precious relics from different periods. It fully and beautifully narrates the history and achievements of the Chinese navy. There are three main exhibit areas to explore: Military Uniform and Gift Exhibition Hall, Weapons and Equipment Exhibition Area, and the Ship and Naval Warfare History Galleries on the sea area.

Have Some Fun at Qingdao Underwater World

Also known as Qingdao Aquarium, this aquarium is the oldest one in China. It is located on the shore of the Yellow Sea’s Huiquan Bay, and features a major aquarium, a museum of sea animals, a museum of fresh animals and many sea animal performances. As you can imagine, it is a wonderland for kids of all ages and adults love it too. Enjoy interesting displays of different types of sea plants and coral from around the world. Qingdao Underwater World also offers an educative experience to your kids with interactive marine biology presentation.

Be sure to add these wonderful maritime attractions in Qingdao to your next business trip and feel free to send us your comments for posting if you have already visited them.
